A joint project with BUWOG apprentices

BUWOG’s apprenticeship programme was successfully launched in September 2021. Not even two years later, the apprentices at the Vienna site are not only set to complete their training but can also look back on a joint project with pride.

Apprentices Julia Dorner, prospective property management assistant, and Florian Ludwig, prospective office administrator, have had the opportunity to work in a variety of departments over the past two years. The extraordinary thing about the apprenticeship years at BUWOG is that they are customised and adapted to personal needs and interests. Thus, a joint project, which was documented with an extensive presentation, provided a chance to utilise their acquired knowledge and skills together and to also learn from one other.

Topic: “Housing in the future”

Over the past nine months, the apprentices have focussed on the topic of “housing in the future”, examining a range of housing and building trends worldwide. In their presentation, they introduced increasingly popular housing concepts such as “collaborative living” and “assisted living” as well as trends focussing on energy efficiency and sustainability, and trends aimed at solving the lack of space in big cities. The project’s findings were presented to managers as well as a larger audience at an internal BUWOG event.

Evelyn Simetsberger, apprentice representative at BUWOG: “For the topic, it was particularly important to me not to hold the apprentices back with strict guidelines. I was curious to see how they would address the issue independently and how they would organise their research.” With a project such as this, the apprentices are to learn to take responsibility and stick to their own schedules, as well as to grow from the challenge of speaking in front of a larger group and of presenting their work.

BUWOG views training young people as a strong sign of social responsibility. Sonja Steinmetz, director of Human Resources Management & Organisation at BUWOG: “It is very important to us to promote our employees. We believe in the potential of every single person and I am particularly pleased that we can give young colleagues the opportunity to showcase their talent and strengthen it, something that has been demonstrated with this project.”

BUWOG is proud to be able to support young, committed people with its apprenticeship programme and offer them exciting prospects in the real estate sector.
