The digital transition has long ceased to be just a trend; it’s an indispensable element of modern corporate strategies. With passion and expertise, BUWOG’s IT team is continually optimising processes, implementing innovative technologies and actively shaping the company’s digital future. To help colleagues in the company remain at the forefront in a steadily changing environment, the department organised the first BUWOG Orange Digi Day in November 2024 under the motto “Paths to the digital world – Shaping the future”.
The internal event took place at the BUWOG Customer and Administrative Centre on Rathausstraße and provided an ideal platform for presenting the latest digital trends and technologies from Vonovia and BUWOG. The aim of the event was to equip participants with practical tools and strategies that can be easily integrated into their day-to-day work. At the same time, the objective was to arouse interest in digital innovations, promote ideas for use cases in the specialist departments, and communicate technical topics in a simple and understandable way. Last but not least, the focus was on strengthening a positive and open-minded relationship with digitalisation.
After the opening address by BUWOG Managing Director Kevin Töpfer, visitors had a chance to listen to inspiring keynote addresses on the topic of artificial intelligence. The speakers included Mike Linthe, managing director of contiamo, Gernot Molin, chief architect and co-founder of paiqo, Karsten Rech, CIO of Vonovia, and Manuel Sasse, director of inhouse consulting at Vonovia. Colleagues at the BUWOG locations in Villach, Graz and Salzburg also took part and followed the presentations via livestream.
In addition to the informative presentations, the BUWOG Orange Digi Day event offered exciting insights into the practical applications of artificial intelligence. A diverse range of tools were presented in interactive breakout sessions and their areas of application were clearly explained. The participants had the opportunity to playfully get a sense of the technologies by trying them out for themselves. A particular highlight was the presentation of Vonovia’s own ChatGPT, which was introduced using BUWOG-specific use cases. Colleagues were also able to see for themselves how BIM models (building information modelling) and the PlanRadar tool can be used in construction management and gain insights into the use of RPA (robotic process automation). Another crowd-puller was the opportunity to create AI-generated images and print them out on site.
The BUWOG Orange Digi Day was more than just a traditional specialist event – it turned out to be a lively venue for innovation, inspiration and shared learning. The IT team was delighted with the large number of visitors from all of the company’s departments and is convinced that the event not only laid the foundation for innovative ideas but also strengthened communication and collaboration across departments and inspired colleagues to actively assist in shaping digital transformation at BUWOG.
